Despite the fact that they are among the biggest breeds of dog – the Guinness Book of Records in 2004 declared a Great Dane from California the world’s tallest dog at 42.2 inches – they treat their human owners in as tactile and ’touchy feely’ a manner as the smallest lapdogs.
